ENDICOTT, N.Y. – Credit unions in search of a few more good staffers may not need to look any further than the latest local big bank sale or merger. Horizons Federal Credit Union, Sidney Federal Credit Union, GHS Federal Credit Union, and Visions Federal Credit Union have recently teamed up to host a job fair for terminated Binghamton Savings Bank employees. The bank will be acquired by Utica, New York-based Partners Trust Company in July and opted to issue pink slips to some 170 staffers. Seeing opportunity in the banker's move, the four credit unions ran a classified advertisement for a job fair to be held at Visions FCU. The ads played up the idea that credit unions would like to help the terminated employees during their time of need. “It is an initiative to help bank employees find jobs in the credit union movement after their bank was sold to an out of town bank,” said Visions FCU President/CEO Frank Berrish.
