MADISON, Wis. – CUNA did its part to tout the credit union difference to small business owners at the Small Business Administration’s SBA Expo in Orlando held May 19-21. At CUNA’s booth, education materials were made available to small business owners, many who may not have considered credit unions as a resource for their business needs. In addition, CUNA staffers showed attendees how to find credit unions in their area by using the lookup function on CUNA’s Web site. Wes Millar, CUNA’s vice president of strategic alliances, said he was pleased with the success of the event and CUNA’s relationship with SBA. He also looks forward to CUNA continuing to help the SBA extend its reach to credit unions. Newtek Business Services, a CUNA strategic alliance provider, also exhibited during the expo at a booth next to CUNA’s. The partnership provides both SBA lending facilitation services and payment acceptance. The Expo, which coincided with National Small Business Week, celebrated small business contributions while giving their owners an opportunity to discover a wide variety of services and programs available to them. SBA reports that 3,000 flocked to the Orange County Convention Center for the three-day event.
