PITTSBURGH – US Airways Federal Credit Union is making sure consumers are aware of how to fight identity theft. Speaking at an Identity Theft Prevention seminar sponsored by state Representative Mark Mustio (R-44) and co-sponsored by Congressman Tim Murphy (R-Pa.) and state Senator John Pippy (R-37), US Airways FCU Director of Lending Development/Quality Assurance Cindy Franzi focused on ID theft prevention and the appropriate steps to take if you become a victim. “It’s important to know that financial institutions have a heightened awareness regarding identity theft and are working to protect your financial information and unauthorized access to your accounts,” said Franzi. “People should expect assistance from their financial institutions if they have been a victim of identity theft. They should also know what types of questions they should never expect from their financial institution. For instance, a financial institution should never ask for financial or personal information via e-mail; that should send up an immediate red flag.” Other speakers at the event included Deputy Attorney General – Bureau of Consumer Protection; Officer Dale Grant – Moon Township Police Department; the Social Security Administration and an Identity Theft Resource Center Representative.
