Georgia Federal Credit Union, Atlanta, has announced the recipients of the 10th Annual Vernon E. Carne Scholarship. Eleven high school seniors were awarded a total of $6,000 in scholarships. The competition was based on academic achievement, community involvement and individual essays on the value of credit union membership. Firstmark Credit Union, San Antonio, has announced the winners of the Frank Price Cunningham & Helen Shipman Cunningham Scholarships. Each year, the credit union awards ten, $1,000 scholarship to area high school seniors from public and private schools. This year’s winners included Adam Seth Brunner; Ashley Chollar; Clint Coffee; Lauren Paige Garner; Kristen Magruder; Patrick Noble; Nicholas Wong; Rebecca Rangel; Jonathan Vorce; and Emerick Wiatrek. Detroit Edison Credit Union, has awarded three $1,000 scholarships to Jason Logan, Karl Schmeck, and Mohammed Elghoul. After meeting entry requirements, scholarship winners are selected solely on their essay. The Credit Union traditionally selects a financial topic that will provide valuable information to all participants. This year’s financial topic was: Describe the three types of IRAs and the advantages of each (in addition to the possible tax advantages). New York State Credit Union League, Latham, has awarded $3,000 to five high school seniors, who are members of Teachers Federal Credit Union. The winners were chosen based on their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. This year’s recipients include Jennifer Chiaramonte, Nicole Donolli, Ryan Gladysz, Michelle Louie, and Rohit Repala. AmeriCU Credit Union, Utica/Rome, N.Y., has awarded scholarships to four students. Recipients were selected based on academic performance and extracurricular and community activities. This year’s winners include Julie Chen, Jennifer Richards, Patricia McHale and Jennifer Janas. Indiana University Credit Union, Bloomington, has announced the winners of its 2004-2005 Returning Student Scholarships. This year’s recipients include: Edward James Brantmeier, Noorjehan K. Brantmeier, Amy Jo Countryman, Julia Mary Heimer Dadds, John Christopher Healey, Jennifer Lee Janney, Jonathan Paul Rossing, Dustin Tyler Schimp, Jennifer Marie Brown, Theresa Jenise Crowe, Marjorie Dianne Faubion and Shirley Mae Garvin. Each year, IU Credit Union provides $20,000 in scholarships to members who are either full- or part-time students, returning after a hiatus of two or more consecutive years to Indiana University or Ivy Tech State College.
