SASKATOON, Saskatchewan – The board of directors and management of Saskatchewan Place Association, the Canadian province's leading sports and entertainment facility reached a 10-year agreement to rename the venue Credit Union Centre. The primary participating group of credit union partners in the venture include: Saskatoon CU, PAGE CU, BCU Financial of North Battleford, Conexus CU, and Advantage CU. More than 50 other CUs and affiliates throughout Saskatchewan are involved in as secondary partners. The Credit Union Center has 11,300 seats for major sporting events and up to 14,000 for full-mode concerts, averaging between 135 and 175 events a year, with a projected attendance of approximately 800,000 people in 2004. Among the performers who have played there are Elton John and Cher. Upcoming shows include Shania Twain, Aerosmith, Sting and Annie Lennox. Other events will include numerous international sporting events and shows such as the Canada Remembers International Air Show and A Taste of Saskatchewan.
