HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Some 7,000 Redstone Federal Credit Union members recently rocked the night away at what has been dubbed “the concert event of the year”. The $1.6 billion credit union was the title sponsor of An Evening with Chicago at the Von Braun Center Arena May 11. The concert promotion included giant giveaways of 300 pairs of concert tickets, 60 of the band’s multi-disc CD of hits, and a “Groupie Grand Prize” of six, third row seats, a VIP reception before the show, limo service that evening and backstage passes to meet the band was awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Greenhaw. With 20 top ten singles, 12 top ten albums and sales of over 120 million records, Chicago’s legacy spans four decades and several generations of fans. “This is the type of popular artistic event our community needs,” said RFCU Vice President Communications/Business Development Joyce Dye. “The band’s incredible longevity and list of hits attests to its ability to draw diverse audiences and cross generational lines. After months of planning and organizing, everything came together perfectly.” According to Dye, this is the first time that a credit union in the United States has sponsored a concert.
