ST. LOUIS – It’s been one year since the `no hats, no hoods, no sunglasses’ dress code policy at credit unions and banks throughout the state went into effect and there’s good reason to celebrate – financial institution robberies in the state have decreased 36% during the first year of the `no hats’ program. “By removing hats, hoods, caps and sunglasses, consumers make it easier for staff and law enforcement to identify any suspected robbers, who often use these items as a disguise,” said Missouri Credit Union Association President/CEO Rosie Holub. “We are able to obtain clearer security photos, and this policy draws attention to people who do not comply.” According to FBI statistics, from May 20,2002-May 1, 2003, before the program was in effect, there were 117 robberies of financials in the state. From May 20, 2003-May 1, 2004, there were 75.
