WASHINGTON – Alphonso Jackson will testify before Congress on May 20 for the first time since he was unanimously confirmed on March 31 as the 13th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Jackson will testify before the House Financial Services Committee at a hearing that's expected to focus on oversight of HUD, including the agency's budget request for FY 2005. Prior to being named HUD Secretary, Jackson was the agency's Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer. He succeeded Mel Martinez.
