BABYLON, N.Y. – Many people hitting Jones Beach State Park Memorial Day weekend will be enjoying the Bethpage Federal Credit Union Air Show in celebration of the park’s 75th anniversary. The $1.6 billion credit union is the title sponsor of the air show that will be seen by an estimated 150,000 people over two days. This also marks the first time that the Blue Angels have performed over Jones Beach State Park considered a Long Island icon. The Blue Angels will be joined in the Memorial Day weekend air operations by vintage World War II aircraft from the American Airpower Museum at Republic Airport, by the Oracle Power Aerobatic Team, the S-3B Viking Demonstration Team, and the 106th Rescue Wing New York/Air National Guard. In addition to the C-130 support aircraft being available for static displays, a number of World War II aircraft from the American Airpower Museum will be flying non-aerobatic displays over Jones Beach State Park. These would include a B-17 Flying Fortress, fighters such a P-47 Thunderbolt, a Grumman Avenger, a P-40 and T-6 high performance trainers. The museum’s C-47 Airborne transport aircraft will also be in the air. “Bethpage Federal Credit Union was formed by employee members of Grumman Aerospace over 60 years ago,” said Bethpage FCU President/CEO Kirk Kordeleski. “We are proud to take the lead in bringing this Air Show to Jones Beach in recognition of that heritage, and to celebrate the glory that is Long Island’s beaches, parks, and history.” In addition to Bethpage FCU as the title sponsor, the presenting sponsor is Newsday, Inc. Other sponsors and supporters include American Airpower Museum, Republic Airport, Long Island Jet Center, BDG, Ltd., The Bristal Assisted Living, WHLI 1100AM, KJOY 98.3, B-103, Island 94.3 – The Long Island Radio Group, Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, Delaware North Corporation Parks and Resorts, Millenium Auto Group, 106th Rescue Wing New York – Air National Guard, Mercy Medical Center, New York State Park Police, New York State Police and the New York State Department of Transportation.
