Although it has become pretty obvious in each weekly issue of Credit Union Times that this publication is far and away the industry leader for running the most paid display advertising, perhaps not quite so obvious to readers is the growth of classified advertising, especially in the last couple of years. It is now not unusual for a single issue of Credit Union Times to contain as many as 11 full pages of paid classified ads. Of course, as a weekly, this publication has a built-in advantage over its monthly and bi-monthly competitors. Frequency for example. Four consecutive classified ads in this publication stretch out over one month. When Mike took over the classifieds, they typically were running at about one to two pages a week. By providing knock-your-socks-off customer service and streamlining the entire operation, Mike grew the classifieds into number one in the industry. In fact, no other credit union publication even comes close. When asked what is the number one reason for this growth, Mike responded: “Because our classified ads work.” -
