Elkhart, Ind. – Bayer Federal Credit Union has broken ground for a new 40,000 square-foot corporate office here. The new facility will be the cornerstone building in the Elkhart redevelopment project dubbed "The Riverwalk". Designed by Leedy/Cripe Architects and built by J.A. Wagner Construction, the new corporate office will house over 100 employees, and will include a state-of-the-art full-service branch. In addition, the credit union has long term plans to expand the building to 120,000 square-feet. Bayer FCU estimates an investment of up to $6 million will be made at the new site. Officials from BFCU, the City of Elkhart, Congressman Chris Chocola's office and the Elkhart Chamber of Commerce were on hand to participate in the ceremony. Construction is underway and expected to be completed by Summer 2005.
