MADISON, Wis. – Change is in the air as the CUNA Chief Operations Officer Council becomes the CUNA Operations, Sales and Service Council (OpSS). According to OpSS Council Chair Vicki Smith, the new name and logo better represent the increased roles service and sales play in current members’ responsibilities. “The Council’s executive committee concluded that the word `operations’ was too diverse, and interpreted differently from credit union to credit union, and that there was a need to expand the name to mention other facets of the operations umbrella,” said Smith. “Sales is now recognized as a significant portion of the operations equation, and credit unions are challenged daily to make certain they do not sacrifice service in order to incorporate sales into their operations. We added `Sales and Service’ to our name in an effort to show equal support for all three elements.” The new logo has been designed to symbolize the OpSS as a dynamic, forward-thinking organization dedicated to contributing intellectual resources to the long-term success of credit unions. Founded in 1998, the CUNA Operations, Sales & Service Council is a member-led partnership of operations, sales, and service professionals dedicated to providing education, leadership, networking support, professional development, and expertise to its members.
