SAN ANTONIO, Texas – More than 700 credit union leaders from Texas will converge at the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center here this week for the Texas Credit Union League’s 70th Annual Meeting & Expo. With a “Texas Pride” theme, the Annual Meeting will feature a host of activities, including a golf tournament, Hall of Fame awards ceremony, Rodeo Resource Expo, and a variety of networking opportunities such as the “Biggest Ball in Texas” Barbecue and the Cattleman’s Club Brunch. The Keynote Corral opening session will feature a presentation by Sam Donaldson of ABC News. Other general session speakers include Mark Meyer with the Filene Research Institute and former Dallas Cowboy and football All-American Daryl “Moose” Johnston. “Throughout the years, Texas credit unions have continuously proven their achievements and continue to boast a long list of accomplishments,” said Dick Ensweiler, CEO of the Texas Credit Union League. “As we continue to rope in more accomplishments, we’re building a stronger unified movement – and strengthening our Texas pride. We will continue to work together as we face new opportunities and challenges, and this year’s Annual Meeting provides an excellent opportunity to join our efforts.” At the Annual Meeting, credit union professionals and volunteers can discover new products and services to help them better serve their members, as well as attend information-packed educational sessions on such topics as member business services, creating a sales and service culture, acquiring and growing member relationships, check crime, and boardroom and management ethics. The League’s business meeting takes place April 23, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Voting delegates will consider adoption of the League’s dues schedule for 2005 and hear TCUL officer, committee and special reports, along with a report on election of district directors.
