PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The Michigan Credit Union League's CUcorp The CUCare Group has recently launched its new online Disaster Recovery Manual. Designed to help credit unions comply with NCUA requirements that all federally chartered CUs have a written and tested disaster recovery plan in effect, the online manual can take credit unions from development to implementation. The Disaster Recovery Manual is a Web-based product and includes an implementation guide, pilot disaster contingency plan, sample forms for building a plan, reference materials, the ability to scan schematics of a computer system and contracts from a vendor, and guidelines and examples on how to deal with the media. "If a manual is on a PC, disc or on paper only, and is in the building when there is a fire, hurricane or flood, it's gone," said The CUCare Group Vice President Jim Fournier. "Once a CU has a password set up, the Web version is available from anywhere, which is a big plus for all size CUs." For CUs already using the Word version, an upgrade to the on-line version will be at no cost, other than the annual hosting fee of $195. For CUs adding the on-line Disaster Recovery Manual for the first time, the cost is $795 with an annual hosting fee of $195 after the first year. There is also special pricing available for CUs with assets less than $20 million.
