SAN JOSE, Calif. – Technology CU has received permission from the California Department of Financial Institutions to become a community-based credit union. The $1 billion credit union's field-of-membership will include Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Mateo counties. Technology CU will also continue to serve the employees of high-tech companies in California and their family members. Technology CU currently has more than 75,000 members. “While anyone from the three counties is now eligible to join, it is the intention of the credit union to continue to focus on the financial needs of professionals from technology companies and other professional organizations,” said Technology CU President/CEO Ken Burns. “Our charter expansion allows us to provide services to professionals not directly connected to technology with similar demographic characteristics and financial needs.” Technology CU has six full-service branches in the Silicon Valley.
