WASHINGTON-In the lobby of the Children's National Medical Center April 1, Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc. presented a check to the hospital for $325,000. The funds, raised by the group of more than 60 credit unions and related associations, came from proceeds of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run. In presenting the check, Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc. Chairman Juri Valdov, Northwest Federal Credit Union CEO, stated, "There's nothing more important than the future of our children, particularly the children who need our help." Prior to the presentation of the check, representatives from the credit union community, including NCUA Vice Chair JoAnn Johnson, helped young medical center patients piece together decorations on foam butterfly cut-outs. This is the third year credit unions have sponsored the Cherry Blossom run. In total, credit unions have raised nearly $20 million for Children's Miracle Network children's hospitals and "Credit Unions for Kids" has become CMN's second largest sponsor. – [email protected]
