PALM DESERT, Calif. – The inaugural meeting of the National Credit Union Roundtable for Board Leadership concluded last Tuesday after three days of sessions on subjects from succession planning to making ethical decisions. The meeting was held at the request of the National Credit Union Roundtable, comprised of the CEOs of the largest 150 credit unions, to emphasize serious board issues for their chairs and vice chairs. Discussions ran the gamut from dynamic leadership to governance to succession planning to ethical decision-making led by consultants in the fields. The conference closed with a session on compensation strategies. CUNA Chairman Dick Ensweiler, president and CEO of the Texas Credit Union League touched on many topics relevant to credit unions, including the bankers' attacks and reaching out to underserved markets. CUNA President and CEO Dan Mica, a former congressman, gave a talk on political grassroots involvement.
