WICHITA, Kan. – The $355-million Boeing Wichita Credit Union was among 30 area businesses honored as "Best Places to Work" by the Wichita Business Journal. It was the only CU to win the accolade. "This was an excellent honor for us and recognizes a positive work environment where employees are given the opportunity to grow," said Gary Regoli, president/CEO, whose CU was recognized at a lunch attended by 400 Wichita business leaders. Boeing Wichita, with a staff of 144 and the state's largest, was recognized as one of the "top 10″ in its employee category. The Kansas CU had been cited by CUNA in 2002 for its education program including an employee-managed "mini-university" to promote internal education. "Let me add that our corporate university is entirely run by employees with an elective curriculum," said Regoli. "Employees earn degrees and it does outstanding work in regulation, compliance and we just finished a class on Spanish in the workplace." Boeing Wichita also has a "wow" program in which employees honor each other for outstanding work redeemable in purchases of CU apparel and other products.
