MADISON, Wis. – US Federal Credit Union recently became the 227th credit union to join the World Council of Credit Unions' International Remittance Network (IRnet). The credit union is also the second in Minnesota to join the four-year old network that allows immigrant workers to make remittances to their families back home, said WOCCU President/CEO Arthur Arnold. "We feel that there is a great need for IRnet, especially because our credit union is becoming much more global in our outreach," said William Raker, president/CEO of US Federal. Raker said the credit union has immigrant members "that need a convenient, effective and economical way to send remittances." US Federal has identified underserved areas in four of their 12 branches and its Minneapolis branch will be the first to sign on to IRnet, Raker said. The credit union serves 72,000 members and has $520 million in assets.
