MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A seven-member committee formed to assist city officials with its $6.2 million deficit will have the expertise of Beverly Coffey, manager of North Dade Community Development FCU. The financial advisory group has been tapped to go over revenues and expenditures with a fine-tooth comb so that the newly-structured city can pay back the money Miami-Dade County here says it owes for a number of services. Coffey along with other committee members were appointed by Miami Gardens city council members and Mayor Shirley Gibson. Since the group’s first meeting earlier this year, plans to introduce occupational-license applications and alarm permits to raise revenue are underway. With the input of Coffey and others, a revised city budget will be submitted on April 12. Chartered in 1997, North Dade Community Development FCU has 2,955 members and $3.4 million in assets.
