WASHINGTON – Starting April 1, Sandra F. Braunstein took over the Federal Reserve’s division of Consumer and Community Affairs. Dolores S. Smith, who previously held the position, retired after 28 years with the Fed, including the last six as division director. Braunstein was appointed to the Fed’s staff as assistant director and community affairs officer in 1998. In 2003, she was named senior associate director of the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs. She has been serving as the board’s liaison to the Consumer Advisory Council, of which E Federal Credit Union CEO Ken Bordelon is a member. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve in 1987, Braunstein held positions in economic and community development for nonprofit, government and private sector organizations. She holds a degree from American University.
