PHOENIX – In a move designed to better represent its members, Arizona Media Credit Union has changed its name to First Edition Community Credit Union. “We were constantly hearing from people who were interested in joining but they thought the name meant the credit union was only for people in the media,” said Shaun Ongstad, chief operating officer of First Edition Community CU. “For future growth, we needed to change the name to be more inclusive of the community area of 42 zip codes in the Phoenix area in our field of membership.” The $53 million credit union was originally chartered in 1952 to serve the employees of The Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette. Over the past 52 years, it has grown to serve many media-related organizations as well as other employers, associations, and organizations.
