HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association wants to raise $100,000 for its Credit Union Defense Fund and is asking every affiliated credit union to commit a contribution of seven-cents per member. Donations to the fund will be used to help fend off banker attacks, assist with legal costs, the unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) issue, lobbying and other public relations costs. So far, nearly $16,000 has been raised toward the goal. Forty-four credit unions have contributed to the fund, in addition to one chapter – the Pittsburgh Chapter – and one individual donation.
