RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Service Plus Credit Union has found a creative way to build community relations while encouraging kids to read. The credit union has learned that a celebration of what would have been the 100th birthday of Theodore Geisel-better known as Dr. Suess proved to be a great opportunity in reaching out to local students. Service Plus CU not only donated books to local Franklin Elementary School but staffer Karen Ardy also dressed as the “Cat in the Hat” to read several stories to the students. “Our teachers and students were so delighted with the visit from the `Cat in the Hat’”, said Franklin Elementary Principal Jean Aklufi. “Boys and girls always love a new face and a new voice in the classroom. We would love to make it an annual event.”
