Please allow me this opportunity to express an opinion about the wording on the most recent poll on the Credit Union Times Web site regarding the credit union conversions to banks issue ("Do you think the potential for individual profit is at all playing a role in the decision making process of the directors and upper management of credit unions who have decided to convert to a bank?). The question itself is worded in such a way that all of the respondents must, or will, answer "yes" to the question. The use of the words "at all playing a role" should be replaced with "the primary issue". Your question is self-serving to obtain the response that you think that your readers might want to hear. In not ALL of the conversions are the board and management looking to pad their pockets as the sole reason for conversion. Might I be so bold as to suggest that some/most are making their best choice for the benefit of the members, and the future of the credit union itself. In the future, please be fair in the wording of your poll questions. Thanks for listening! Paul Regimbal President Catholic Credit Union Yakima, Wash.
