PORTLAND, Ore. – Four Oregon credit unions have been named the "Best Companies To Work for in Oregon" by the Oregon Business Journal. Portland Teachers Credit Union, which has been on the publication's list for the last five years, jumped to No. 3 from No. 8 in the category of Oregon companies with more than 250 employees. "Portland Teachers Credit Union is pleased and proud of this recognition," stated Cliff Dias, PTCU president/CEO. "Our 3rd place finish in this year's `100 Best' process shows we're on the right track in our commitment to our people, and let me add we believe strongly that our employees are at the core of our success." Also on the `100 Best' list were: Northwest Community CU of Eugene which ranked number 5 for CUs under 250 employees; SELCO CU, also of Eugene, number 34 (15-250 employees); and Pentagon FCU of Alexandria, Va., which maintains a Eugene service center (also 15-250) and ranked in 32nd place. "We and the other credit unions have in the past been ranked in the 30′s and so we're excited this time to be in the top 5," said Kent White, vice president of marketing at Northwest Community CU. The Portland business publication compiles its top 100 listed based on surveys of both employees and employers. Its CU winners' list was contained in its March issue The publication said it invites companies throughout Oregon to participate in this survey, noting this year it hired a research firm Davis, Hibbits & Midghall, to implement a new methodology that asked employees about their "ideal" workplace and how their own companies met those criteria. It also questioned employers about objective measurements of employee benefits. "That lends even more significance to our ranking," noted Roger Sande, PTCU senior vice president-human resources, in a PTCU press release. -
