I wanted to comment on Credit Union Times' coverage of the debate at GAC between Jim Blaine and Ken Fergeson. The "colorful language" you refer to did fly – exclusively from Jim Blaine's mouth. His representation of our industry was immature at best, demonstrating an appalling lack of professionalism and little preparation for a serious exchange of issues (other than his off-color humor.) Unfortunately, the "debate" represented a huge missed opportunity for credit unions to clarify our position and educate community bankers on several issues, including our cooperative structure and tax-exempt status.
