WASHINGTON – Fannie Mae has published a collection of nine studies commissioned by the company over the past two years in a book titled “Housing Matters: Issues in American Housing Policy.” The studies address a variety of topics related to the company's safety and soundness, effectiveness in supporting homeownership, and competitive impact on the market Fannie Mae operates in. According to Fannie Mae, the collection of studies provides important perspectives for policymakers and others considering proposals for strengthening GSE oversight and Fannie Mae's role in the U.S. housing finance system. The studies are authored by leading academics, a former Nobel Prize winner, and a former Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisers.
