ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Credit union officials are now able to register for the June 2 Partnering and Leadership Success workshop on mortgage lending, NCUA Board Member Debbie Matz announced recently. “Although 67% of all credit unions make mortgages, only 2% of all mortgages are made by credit unions,” Matz pointed out. “That means the vast majority of credit union members are going elsewhere for their mortgages.” Attendees of the workshop will learn from officials whose credit unions are successful in getting their members to obtain mortgages from their credit union. The free workshop to be held in Boston will feature three panels, “Helping More Members Realize the American Dream;” “Managing Mortgage Lending Risks,” which will explain how to leverage the secondary market; and “Resources, Support and Partnering Opportunities.” The complete workshop agenda is available at www.ncua.gov; just click on PALS, then Schedule. The Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Rhode Island Credit Union Leagues, NAFCU, and the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions are cosponsoring the workshop.
