SEATTLE – As the year progresses, look for more credit unions to revamp their brand and names. Seattle-based branding and marketing firm Weber Marketing Group (WMG) reports there is a “tremendous demand among financial firms to develop more competitive brands for their organizations.” In just the past year alone, WMG says it helped credit unions ranging in size from billion dollar heavy hitters like Lockheed FCU and Mission FCU to smaller credit unions like Utah 1st CU and Community Resource CU revitalize their brand or change their name. So far, four more renaming and branding projects are lined up to be completed in early 2004. According to WMG President Mark Weber, the reason why credit unions are ready to “refocus their staff, resources, branches, online communications and overall market image is so that they can better compete head to head with major banks in their communities.”
