Portland Teachers Credit Union, Ore., has announced that former board member and longtime supervisory committee member Arlene Foss has died. A mathematics teacher at Portland’s Robert Gray Middle School, Foss joined PTCU in 1969. She was elected to the board of directors in 1977, while still working as a classroom teacher, and served in that position until 1989. Foss was appointed to the credit union’s supervisory committee in 1989, a position she held at the time of her death. In 1994 the Credit Union Association of Oregon presented Foss with its prestigious Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes a volunteer’s outstanding accomplishments, time, and effort, in support and promotion of the credit union idea.
