RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – The California Credit Union League has designed its new 20/20 conference to deliberately break the paradigm for credit union conferences. Planned around the theme of `Tomorrow’s Vision, Today,’ the conference will feature major figures in emerging trends, leadership, organizational culture, and change, engaging credit union leaders in detailed discussions of issues they will face in the early 21st century financial services marketplace. Mark Klinkert, svp, communications and professional development for CCUL said the new conference is “about learning and understanding trends taking place globally and in our credit unions, and then taking that knowledge and using it to position for tomorrow. “This conference has a different look and direction from the League’s traditional spring conference offerings and those of other trade associations,” he added. “Instead of short, lecture-based sessions, this conference offers longer, in-depth, interactive discussions on various topics to create a more personalized learning experience. Conference participants will leave with substantial ideas to take back to their credit unions.” The three-day conference will be held May 10-12 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort in Arizona. Among the speakers expected at the conference is Juan Hernandez, associate professor at the University of Texas and adviser to the government of Mexico. He’ll examine the cultural differences between Hispanic and non-Hispanic credit union members, and present demographic information that can help CUs address the diverse needs of the Latino community. Also expected to address conferees is Chip Filson, president/CEO of Callahan & Associates, and Peter Schwartz, co-founder and chairman of Global Business Network.
