Tower Federal Credit Union, Laurel, Md., has celebrated its 50th anniversary. Over 75 people attended the event including past board members, Tower retirees, and representatives from NAFCU and the Maryland Credit Union League. The Mayor's office presented Tower with a Seal of the City of Laurel and commemorative plaque. Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, LIHUE, Hawaii is celebrating its 50th with a "Because of you, we're golden" campaign for members. Throughout the year Kauai's largest credit union will honor its members with special appreciation events, promotions and giveaways. Recently KCFCU has awarded members loan interest rebates ad bonus dividends of nearly $300,000-representing about 12.8% of the $250 million credit union's operating net income in 2003. Commonwealth One Federal Credit Union, Alexandria, Va., is celebrating 60 years of service. In recognition of its Diamond Anniversary, the credit union has several events planned for the entire year including a member appreciation week, complimentary financial seminars and milestone promotions. Service One Credit Union, Bowling Green, Ky., President/CEO Valerie C. Brown has celebrated 25 years of service as President/CEO. Brown began her credit union career in 1978 as Manager of Western Kentucky University Credit Union. Since then, the re-named Service One CU has grown from $400,000 in assets to four branch offices and over $77 million in assets. Georgia Power Northeast Credit Union, Athens, Ga., has turned 75 this year. In 75 years, the credit union has grown to include over 1,500 members and has more than $13 million in assets.
