ANKEY, Iowa – Art is in the air and on the walls at Deere Community Credit Union. The $91 million credit union has hosted an ArtShare Premiere to kick off its latest exhibit. Designed by the credit union, the ArtShare program increases the community’s awareness of its local young artists. Currently some 60 two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces created by Ankeny High School art students are on display. There is a premiere every six months to showcase each new series of artwork at the credit union. Thanks to the credit union, students’ paintings, drawings, photography and computer collages are professionally framed and matted at a local art gallery. The jewelry, pottery and sculptures are displayed in a locked case in the CU lobby. In addition, Deere Community CU has established a $1,000 ArtShare scholarship program to help talented students further develop their skills and pursue a career in fine arts. “We are very excited to work with the local high school,” said Deere Community CU President/CEO Dennis Skelton. “With ArtShare we hope to bring recognition to these great young artists while strengthening the value of art within our community.”
