MENOMONIE, Wis. – For its part with community outreach and financial service offerings, $440 million WESTconsin Credit Union was recently named Business of the Year for 2003 by the Greater Menomonie Area Chamber of Commerce here.The Chamber recognized the credit union at its annual banquet and awards held on Feb. 16. WESTconsin CU President Greg Lentz accepted the award on behalf of the credit union's 230 employees and more than 50,000 members. In addition to holding fund raisers to support such groups as the United Way, Children's Miracle Network, and the American Cancer Society, the credit union also started the WCU Volunteer and Travel Club, which encourages members to volunteers and rewards them with special benefits. Chartered in 1939 to serve the Menomonie farming community, WESTconsin has since expanded to an occupational charter serving five counties in Western Wisconsin.
