NEW CASTLE, Del. – To ease the strains many Delaware credit unions say are caused by their collections' operations, the Delaware Credit Union League will host a telephone collections clinic. The clinic will take place March 30 here and the full-day session (8:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) will cover the basic fundamentals of telephone collections, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, how to improve your collection efforts, and the top 12 collection tips. Instructor Steve Peterson will spend time actually working delinquent member accounts. Peterson's experience includes 14 years as lead account representative for bankruptcy attorney Bill Mapother. Registered members of the League's collection council will pay $60 to attend and non-registered council members will pay $140. Participants are asked to bring delinquent accounts to be used as an exercise for this training. The registration deadline is March 2.
