Records are made to be broken. The previous record for the total number of pages in a single weekly issue of Credit Union Times didn’t even hold up for a full year. It was set with a 128 page issue last July in conjunction with NAFCU’s Annual Conference and Exhibition. This issue, which is being seen everywhere in conjunction with CUNA’s 2004 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C., raises the record bar to 140 pages. While everyone connected with Credit Union Times is thrilled with this achievement, realistically we don’t expect readers and advertisers to get anywhere near as excited as we are. But we do hope this record issue showcases two important facts to them: First, more and more major financial vendors are discovering that credit unions represent an important market for their products and services. Because of this increasing vendor interest in credit unions and their obvious conclusion that this publication is the best way to reach the industry’s movers and shakers, we needed to once again boost our page count to a record setting level to accommodate them. Secondly, it should be obvious that credit unions are making news like never before in their history. Unprecedented advertiser support has made it feasible for our editors to have the editorial space they need to provide the extensive news and feature coverage this industry now commands. With 140 pages, we are confident this issue contains something for everyone. -
