BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – A collaborative effort between the Minnesota Credit Union Network, the Minnesota Family Involvement Council and the University of Minnesota Extension Service to promote financial literacy throughout the state is bringing credit union professionals and high school teachers together with the help of the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) With the primary financial backing of MCUN, 10 workshops have been coordinated throughout the state on April 26-29 to train teachers and credit union staff about NEFE’s High School Financial Planning Program curriculum. The workshops will also feature an update on credit, review legislative efforts on the state and federal levels, and highlight new features of the HSFPP. The HSFPP consists of a six-unit curriculum and student guides that acquaint students with basic financial concepts such as financial planning, budgeting, saving, investments, credit and insurance.
