NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michael DeFors joined the Michigan Credit Union League Feb. 2 as director of regulatory and legal affairs. The 53-year old DeFors was formerly with the Michigan Bankers Association for 16 years where he worked in government affairs and directed the efforts of the MBA's Compliance Committee and worked on regulatory issues for MBA policymaker discussion and resolutions. He also represented the association as the industry's spokesperson with the media. As director of regulatory and legal affairs for the Michigan League, DeFors will be responsible for developing regulatory advocacy strategies that help ensure the League and its affiliated credit unions maintain a leadership position in the national credit union system, the League said.
