THORNDALE, Pa. – Citadel Federal Credit Union has proved that there is no such thing as too much media coverage. Over 500 press mentions in local print, radio, television, electronic and trade media last year has helped Citadel FCU create quite the buzz here. “Between corporate successes and a commitment to our local community, Citadel enjoys an abundance of PR opportunities,” said Citadel FCU Director of Marketing Cathy Graham. “Couple that with a savvy and talented PR expert such as Erin Krueger and results are bound to be impressive.” Representing a 400% increase over 2002 results, the press reported on the $557 million credit union’s financial education efforts, charitable donations and sponsorships and the Citadel Heart of Learning Award, which is an annual teaching award. “As a credit union, we recognized an opportunity through the `People Helping People’ philosophy to achieve name recognition and brand awareness from community involvement activities,” said Citadel FCU Communications Specialist Erin Krueger. “The publicity we have received has led to print, radio and television interviews about Citadel’s products and services.” According to Graham, a successful PR program combined with a solid promotion strategy can serve as the “one-two punch that can really establish a strong brand in a competitive environment”.
