DONATIONS

Wescom Credit Union, Pasadena, Calif., has donated a total of $5,000 to schools in the communities of each of its 25 Southern California branch locations. Funds were generated through a recent promotion where members had the opportunity to make donations to an education fund by opting out of monthly paper statements in favor of electronic ones. Public Service Credit Union, Detroit, Mich., has sponsored the State of Michigan/Wayne County Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics. A donation of $950 was generated by member and staff contributions along with the sale of Special Olympic tee shirts. For its efforts, Public Service CU has received a plaque and its name will be printed on next year’s 2004 shirts. State Center Credit Union, Fresno, Calif., has donated $1,350.00 to the Foundation for Clovis Schools. The funds were raised in conjunction with the credit union’s Willow Station branch grand opening. For each new membership opened with a direct deposit, auto loan or home equity line of credit account during the grand opening celebration the credit union donated $25, $50 or $100 to the Clovis Schools Foundation. Arizona Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, Ariz., has donated $2,340 to three local charities as a result of a partnership with Get Away Today Vacations. The three charities, Make a Difference, The 100 Club and Greater Phoenix Urban League, each received a third of the total amount. Partnering with Get Away Today Vacations, Arizona Federal provides its members with discounted vacation packages while also raising money for local charities. For each vacation package purchased by an Arizona Federal member, Get Away Today Vacations added to Arizona Federal’s donation amount. A total of 324 families booked vacation packages.
