WASHIINGTON – From the looks of it, the CUNA District 1 Class B board seat will probably go uncontested. At press time, John Prumo, president/CEO of GPO Federal Credit Union in New Hartford, N.Y., was the only candidate submitted. The deadline to submit nominations was Jan. 16. If Prumo is the only nomination received by the Jan. 16 deadline, he will be named to fill the unexpired term, which runs through 2005, said Mark Wolff CUNA Senior Vice President of Communications. Any additional nominations would have meant an election with ballots going out to credit unions on Jan. 19. Voters would have had until Feb. 13 to cast their ballot. The CUNA Board seat was recently held by former President/CEO Holly Herman of Kraft Foods FCU, who resigned from that post on Dec. 10, 2003. District 1 encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
