Norton Community Credit Union, San Bernardino, Calif., has awarded long-time member Charmaine Duncan $10,000 as winner of the Make It Green sweepstakes. Air Academy Federal Credit Union, Colorado Springs, Vice President of Marketing Karin Kovalovsky has been named one of Colorado Springs' Most Dynamic Women of 2003 by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. Of the 45 top businesswomen nominated only 10 received the honor. Kovalovsky was recognized for her strategic marketing and community involvement efforts, which include developing strong support of area school districts. Citadel Federal Credit Union, Thorndale, Penn., President/CEO Jeff March has been named the Small Business Leader of the Year by the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry. March was singled out for his leadership role in the community and risk taking, capital investments and community involvement efforts. Sunmark Federal Credit Union, Schenectady, N.Y., has been honored as 2003 Company of the Year by its peers at the Chamber of Schenectady County's annual Business Awards Banquet. Awarded to firms and individuals who demonstrate their dedication to improving the local business climate and their community, the award caps a year of honors for Sunmark. In addition to being selected as Company of the Year by the chamber, Sunmark was selected as one of the top 10 fastest growing companies and one of the top 25 best places to work in New York's capital region by the Capital District Business Review. Dane County Credit Union, Madison, Wis., has been presented a plaque by the Dane County Sheriff's Department. The credit union was recognized for its contribution and support of the K-9 unit through the police dog trading card program. Deputies hand the popular cards out to children at the various community events they attend as a way to reach out to the community. San Antonio Federal Credit Union, and SACU FVP of document management Chris Jacobs have been awarded the Iron Mountain/Association of Records Managers and Administrator International Award for Overall Program Excellence. SACU's award-winning entry chronicled a major project, which involved converting its paper- and microfiche-based Records Department into a high-tech Document Management Department. SAFE Federal Credit Union, Sumter, S.C., MEMBERS Financial Services Coordinator Linda Crawford has been presented the "Coordinator's Fast Start Award" from CUNA Mutual Group. Crawford was singled out for her role in helping set up the new program at SAFE, plus meeting the goals set for the first year. SSA Baltimore Federal Credit Union, has been presented the CUNA 2003 Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award. The award is presented to the credit union that best demonstrates its commitment to the practical application of the "people-helping-people" philosophy. SSA Baltimore FCU was awarded first place for its efforts to serve the underserved areas of Baltimore City.
