MALVERN, Pa. - In another indicator of the growing popularity of service bureau processing in credit union land, data processor AFTECH has announced that for the first time it is launching a service bureau solution, though AFTECH President Joe Antellocy said the company will take it slow until it gets it right. AFTECH cited the cost savings of service bureau processing as well as the appeal to CUs without in-house technology staffers as reasons for adding service bureau processing to its product menu. AFTECH partnered with Newark, Delaware based American Spirit Federal Credit Union to develop the service bureau system, known as Advantage ASP. As part of the collaboration, AFTECH will take over the credit union's IT operations and make available all AFTECH products and services, including modules the credit union does not now use. "We are moving slowly. We want to make sure we do a great job for American Spirit. We haven't hired any sales people to drive that line of business yet," said Antellocy.
