WASHINGTON-The Senate recently confirmed Thomas J. Curry, Commissioner of Banks for the Massachusetts Division of Banks, as a member of the Board of Directors for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation for a six-year term. Prior to being Massachusetts' bank commissioner, Curry served as first deputy commissioner of banks and as acting commissioner of banks. He also previously served as assistant general counsel for the Massachusetts Division of Banks and as an attorney with the Massachusetts Secretary of State. Curry holds a bachelor's degree from Manhattan College and a J.D. from the New England School of Law. The FDIC's five-member board has been operating with four members since September 1998.
