Both sides in this struggle have employed sites on the World Wide Web to try to get their points across. Soon after the Save CCU began to promote its Web site against the conversion (www.saveccu.com) Columbia added pages to its own Web site (www.columbiacu.org) promoting the move. “Despite what detractors may say, converting to Columbia First Bank is best for our members and our community,” wrote David Doss, Columbia’s CEO on the credit union’s pages. “The mutual bank charter provides funding flexibility and a wider market acceptance to maintain Columbia’s ability to compete in the fastest growing county in Washington State.. Converting to Columbia First Bank is a strategic, visionary decision to benefit our members, not a get-rich-quick scheme.” But soon after Columbia’s pages appeared, Save CCU updated its pages to address some of the credit unions’ assertions. “While CCU has 60,000 members throughout Clark County, it only ranks as #240 nationally in number of members,” Save CCU wrote. “Locally, both Portland Teachers Credit Union and First Technology Credit Union are substantially larger than CCU and provide their members the superb level of products and services, features and benefits that credit unions are famous for.”
