ARLINGTON, Va. – The deadline for interested applicants to send their resumes to NASCUS for the position of president/CEO officially ended December 8, and now the seven-person CEO Search Committee is in the process of reviewing the resumes it received and narrowing the list to no more than 20 applicants for the position left vacant when Doug Duerr was dismissed from the spot last August. Jim Forney, superintendent of credit unions, Iowa Department of Commerce, Credit Union Division and chairman of the search committee said the committee received 44 applications, "many of which are of outstanding quality," he said. NASCUS began running help wanted ads in various trade and national newspapers, as well as on its Web site and those of other organizations, on November 5. The Search Committee decided not to use an outside search firm. Once the list has been narrowed down to 20 names, that list will be further narrowed down to six to 10 candidates for personal interviews that will be conducted in early January. After that, the Search Committee will select three to five candidates for a list of finalists and then rank them in order of preference before submitting its report and recommendation to the NASCUS Board. The NASCUS Board of Directors will make the final selection decision for a new president/CEO. The projected target date is the end of January.
