MADISON, Wis. – It has been 13 years since Pete Crear came to CUNA and Affiliates, just one illustrious period within his 40-year career in the movement. This year, the industry veteran announced that he will leave his current roles as EVP and COO. On Dec. 10, John Franklin, former South Carolina Credit Union League president, was named to succeed Crear (see story page 3). Crear will become executive vice president of external relations, serving as CUNA's primary contact on the national level for consumer and cooperative groups. Crear joined CUNA in September 1990 as senior vice president, association services. Before that, he was president/CEO of the Indiana Credit Union League. He's also served as president of the Connecticut Credit Union League, as vice president of information and technical services for the Michigan Credit Union League, and as executive director of the Association of Credit Union League Executives.
