NUTLEY, N.J. – As a result of changes to its membership and type of services offered, HLR FCU has changed its name to Proponent FCU. "Since our inception, the number of products and services the credit union offers has grown, our field of membership has expanded and the delivery of our services, whether in person, by phone or online has diversified," says CEO Jim McKittrick. "We wanted a name and image that better encompasses all we have come to represent to our members." Proponent FCU was chartered originally in 1971 to serve the employees of Hoffmann-La Roche, its subsidiaries and their family members. The credit union since has included select employee groups from throughout New Jersey and North Carolina, where they have a total of nine branch locations. Proponent has around 27,000 members and its assets exceed $360 million.
