MADISON, Wis. – For the second straight year CUNA Mutual employees will not receive a holiday bonus. CUNA Mutual was cited in a recent USA Today article about companies holding back on holiday bonuses. According to CUNA Mutual, the decision to forego a bonus was agreed upon as part of a union vote it held late last year. Last year the company did not hold a holiday party either. Foregoing a holiday party was one of the top suggestions from CUNA Mutual employees for ways to help the company through the tough economic times. This year there will be some type of holiday event, however costs will be kept down by holding it on-site in its atrium, as opposed to off-site as it has been in year’s past. “It will be less expensive then the traditional steak and shrimp dinner in a hotel. However, it should be quite festive. We’ll have the CUNA Mutual choir lead us in song, we plan to read letters from credit unions and we’ll highlight employees. This will give us a chance to gather together, have some fun and reflect on all that we have accomplished in the past year,” said CUNA Mutual spokesperson Sydney Lindner.
